Autumn Delight

This is a juice for the season, both in ingredients and in color! The kids (and adults) will have fun watching this one come through the juicer, as the juice is reminiscent of fruity fall leaf-colored ice cream when it comes out. If you wish, you can leave the pretty fall colors in the layers as they come out, but the flavors will not mix and mingle to give this juice its sweet deliciousness. This one is about equal parts fruit and veggie. The kale and carrots give the juice a mild earthy flavor, while the pear and grapes work to sweeten it up.It’s been a while since we’ve talked about kale here on juicerhead, but kale is considered to be one of the ultimate super foods. Kale is very high in beta carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin K. Kale is one of the richest plant-based sources of calcium available, so it should be a staple of a vegetarian or vegan diet. Kale has been shown to boost immunity, especially DNA repair in cells. Kale has also shown to have cancer-fighting properties, including the ability to block the growth of cancerous cells. Along with all of these helpful properties, kale has also been known to reduce the body’s absorption of dietary fat and lower cholesterol.

  • 3 carrots, trimmed
  • 1 bunch kale
  • 2 Bartlett pears
  • 2 cups red grapes

  • Wash all produce thoroughly
  • Cut produce to fit in the juicer
  • Juice kale first, on a lower speed
  • Juice all other produce on high
  • Clean juicer parts very quickly as the carrots and kale both leave a residue
  • Serve in a very festive autumn glass
