Cuisinart CCJ-500 Citrus Juicer

A multi-functional, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink sort of juicer is all well and good if you have the budget. But a top-shelf juicer isn’t for everyone. Furthermore, you shouldn’t feel like you need to go with a comprehensive juicing machine in order to see the benefits of juicing. With that in mind, we’re looking at a citrus juicer today. Although you won’t be extruding any pasta or juicing any wheatgrass with this puppy, you can absolutely still render healthy and delicious juice.

Durability and Build

This juicer sports Cuisinart’s standard but unimpeachable construction. It’s mostly made out of easily cleaned brushed steel. The plastic components are a black plastic which shouldn’t dramatically show signs of wear. Dishwasher safe parts make cleanup a painless proposition.

This juicer is capable of juicing all manner of citrus. This includes lemons, limes and grapefruits as well as the more common choice of oranges. You’ll see good juicing output when you put this machine through its paces.

The pulp catcher tends to fill up pretty quick, so keep this in mind if you tend to juice large batches of produce. Having to frequently stop and empty the pulp catcher will slow you down a bit. Having said that, unlike centrifugal and masticating juicing which require you to peel produce, the CCJ-500 can handle citrus which has only been sliced in half. This may make up for the time spent cleaning out the pulp catcher. If all you’re after is fresh O.J. in the morning, quite buying the stuff in the carton and invest in this juicer
