Juicing is also great for those that do not consume enough fruits and vegetables and wish to pack their daily values into a quick and easy package. However, juicing should not be seen as a way to shortcut vital nutrition. It can be dangerous to skip eating and opt to only juice, and it can also be dangerous to assume that it is unnecessary to eat fruits and vegetables in addition to consuming them through juice. In short, treating juicing as a way to justify otherwise unhealthy habits can be harmful.

Fiber, Protein and Other Nutrients

When food is juiced, the fiber and other nutrients that are contained in the pulp are removed. This makes it easier to ingest a larger variety of fruits and vegetables at one time. This can be helpful, as it allows you to consume many different nutrients that may not have been ingested otherwise. However, it can also allow a large amount of sugar to be consumed at one time, without the benefit of blood sugar regulating proteins. Protein and fatty acids are also absent from most juicing ingredients, so juicerheads must make sure to round out their diets.

Chewing food may also be beneficial to stimulating digestion. Those looking to do a juice fast or cleanse may find that they have digestive trouble with the decrease in fiber coupled with the lack of chewing. Digestive troubles can set back weight loss and health goals, so anyone that is experiencing these issues should look into other methods. Much like supplements, juicing can be a healthy way to increase the intake of healthy nutrients, but should not be seen as a way to avoid eating healthy foods altogether.
