Kale Lemonade

And even if you decide a particular recipe isn’t for you, you’ll still be healthier as a result of drinking it! 

Today we have a simple green lemonade on tap, and it focuses around kale. Kale is a truly wonderful green. It contains an astonishing amount of nutrients, and is hearty enough to grow almost year round. Additionally, it’s pretty cheap and also available fresh at your local farmers market. As you’d expect, the lemons in this recipe deliver a substantial vitamin C punch. But kale is actually just as significant a source of vitamin C and will also supply you with a range of other vitamins and minerals including potassium, calcium, manganese and vitamin A. This juice is easy to whip up and requires just a few ingredients which also have relatively long refrigerator lives. Try it out for yourself and see what you think!

Ingredients

  • 1 Bunch of kale
  • 2 Lemons
  • 1 Apple
  • Fresh ginger root to taste

Directions

  • Kale can be a bit tricky to juice in a centrifugal juicer. In order to make sure that you render the most juice possible, bunch the kale up tightly before stuffing it into your juicer’s feeding chute. Additionally, make sure that your juicer is on its lowest blade speed setting when juicing the kale.
  • Juice the kale on low.
  • Juice the apple, lemons and ginger on high.
  • Pour the juice over ice and drink it with a straw. Voila! Lemonade made twice as healthy!
