This is the green juice that you’ve heard about. Maybe you’ve heard it called “green machine”, “The hulk”, or “green monster”. There are slightly different variations on the recipe, but one vegetable lies at the heart of all of them: kale. Kale has come to popularity in the U.S. in recent years. Renowned for its health benefits, it is categorized as a superfood. Grocery stores have been rushing to stock kale among their most-oft purchased veggies.

Kale also packs protein and dietary fiber. At least two of the vitamins in kale have been shown to help fight cancer. Kale also contains properties that help to slow the body’s rate of fat absorption and decrease cholesterol.

Ingredients

  • 6 Kale Leaves
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples
  • 4 Celery Sticks
  • ½ Lemon, peeled
  • 1 Cucumber
  • ½ piece of Ginger Root

Directions

  • Rinse all fruits and veggies thoroughly
  • Cut fruits and veggies to fit in juicer
  • Juice all fruit on high
  • Pour and enjoy
  • Clean juicer

There may be some debate about juicing different items at different speeds, but I have found that doing it this way results in about 24 ounces of juice with very little juice in the pulp. The taste may take a little getting used to at first, but this juice will provide a massive boost of energy sure to make up for it!
