Omega 8006 Masticating Juice Extractor

My husband, who is now a full-fledged juicerhead, surprised me the other day with a brand new Omega 8006 masticating juicer. We had been thinking for some time about upgrading from our ancient centrifugal juicer, but were deterred by the expense of most masticating juicers. The Omega happened to be on sale at Kohl’s for less than $50! My husband didn’t hesitate to make the purchase, and I’m ecstatic about our new juicer.

Superior Extraction

The Omega masticating juice extractor works using an auger to crush and press produce, slowly turning and pushing the produce forward so that every drop of juice is extracted. The juicing process is a little slower than what we were used to, but we have greater yields from the produce that we purchase so it has actually saved us money! The juice that is extracted is also visibly denser and tastes better and higher in nutrition.

Easy to Clean

I was surprised to find that the Omega juicer is actually easier to clean than our centrifugal juicer. The centrifugal juicer didn’t have a separate pulp catcher, so all of the pulp had to be manually scraped out of the main housing. The Omega pushes the pulp out separately from the juice, so the parts simply need to be washed afterward. All of the parts that get dirty are removable, so you can easily spray and soak all of the parts immediately after juicing. The screen was the toughest part of the centrifugal juicer to clean and the Omega doesn’t have a screen, so even the cleaning of the parts themselves is easier.

Versatile Health Machine

In addition to its superior juicing abilities, the Omega is also good for helping overall health. It is possible to juice wheatgrass with the Omega, so we have capabilities that we didn’t have before. Fresh nut milks can be made with the juicer, so we have begun making our own preservative-free almond milk. The extractor can also make it easy to mince and grind produce, so that it is easy to make salsas, dips, and sauces for better health.
