Sweet Pumpkin Blend

pumpkin-sweet-juiceThe pumpkin used for this can be a large jack-o-lantern pumpkin or a small sugar pumpkin. Sugar pumpkins will be sweeter, but with this recipe added sweetness is not necessary. Jack-o-lantern pumpkins will yield more. If fresh pumpkin is not available, canned pumpkin may be added to the juice and put through a blender. This will produce a thicker juice and the nutritional content will not be as great, however. This juice is great for a sweet tooth when dieting, and is high in dietary fiber so it will fill you up.Pumpkin and carrots are high in carotenoids, which are known to reduce the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Carotenoids have also been shown to boost the immune system in some studies. Ginger has also been shown to boost the immune system, as well as having anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger will also add just a hint of tanginess to this juice, cutting the sweetness slightly for a more balanced flavor. Apples and pears contain high amounts of vitamin C and potassium. This juice is sweet and savory, and will be enjoyed by children and adults alike with many nutritional benefits.
