Watermelon Basil Refresher

Watermelon, limes, and basil are all on the inexpensive side right now, and that is perfect for this drink! The lime juice helps to add tang to the sweetness of the watermelon, while the basil accentuates the fresh taste and adds a mild earthy undertone.Besides tasting good, this juice will also help to add flare to your hydration when out in the sun all day. Unlike water, watermelon has a healthy dose of electrolytes to help keep your body even better hydrated and to help keep energy levels up. This can also help to prevent cramping when doing outdoor activities in the sun. Basil also contributes magnesium to the drink, as well as vitamin K, vitamin C, and omega-3 fatty acids. The limes contribute vitamin C and can help with digestion and dry skin, which can be very handy when eating quickly on the go and splashing around in the water.


      • 2 limes
      • 1 whole watermelon
      • 10 basil leaves
      • pinch of salt



      • Rinse all produce thoroughly, including watermelon rind to remove dirt and bacteria
      • Peel limes and remove seeds
      • Cut watermelon and remove flesh in easy-to-juice strips
      • Juice watermelon, limes, and basil
      • Will make approximately 2-10 ounce glasses depending on the size of the watermelon
      • Add salt to taste if preferred
      • If desired, a splash of gin or top-shelf tequila can be added to make a dinner cocktail
      • Enjoy with dinner or during outings in the sun
